Most mobile DJs will need some form of lighting to illumine the guests and the dance floor. This guide is intended to help beginner mobile DJs design their original lighting rig by giving careful consideration to a heap of of the less apparent issues that become evident only after working with a mobile lighting rig for some time. Tempting as it may be, the best option is not to jump straight in to buying the latest and biggest lighting effects. By taking a step back and planning the overall package, you will be competent to design an impressive, practical setup that serves you well for a potpourri of functions and won’t break your back or your bank balance.

There’s no right or defective way, and the relative importance of each of these issues will vary depending on the type of functions at which you perform, your preferences, and even your transport. You might choose to ignore numerous of them altogether, but it’s important to give them numerous thought before you begin assembling your equipment.

Practical Considerations

Mobile DJs carry out in all sorts of dissimilar venues, with wildly varying dimensions and facilities. One day you might be in a hotel ball room with all the space and power you need, and the next in a marquee with a low ceiling, uneven floor, and restricted power supply. Most of a DJ’s instrumentation is adaptable sufficient to fit into most spaces without too much trouble. Speakers, whether they’re on stands or not (and in most cases they must be), may be positioned independently of each other so they don’t need a space of rigidly fixed dimensions. However the lighting rig may oftentimes be the greatest item to be set up and might need a substantial amount of power, and may hence be the most difficult to accommodate in a potpourri of venues.

The layout of your lighting rig needs to take into account respective practical considerations:

Size when packed — will it without apparent effort fit into your vehicle?

Size when set up — will it effortlessly fit into most venues, or be adaptable sufficient that you may quickly change it if necessary e.g. by using a shorter length of truss or just one T-bar?

Weight — a great deal of lighting fixtures are heavy. Can you carry all of the constituents without hurting yourself? Are your lighting stands strong sufficient to aid them all safely?

Carrying in/out — how a great deal of trips will it take to carry all of your instrumentation into/out of a venue?

Speed to set up — you’ll oftentimes find you don’t have much time to set up, and not a single soul wants to wait around for hours while you pack down at the end. How long will it take to assemble/disassemble?

Power — how much power will be required to run all of your lighting combined? Finding more power sockets takes time and power furnishes are on occasion fixed (e.g. in a marquee running from a generator). Modern, LED-based lighting effects use very little power and may be a great support here.

Stands

Lighting effects work best when raised up high so that the beams shine down from above and are in a good position to cover a wide area. While others do exist, the types of lighting stand that are most practical for a mobile DJ are:

T-bar — a horizontal bar mounted on a tripod.

Truss — a horizontal metal structure mounted on two vertical stands, consisting either of tripods or more truss sections.

Both may be very effective. Trussing may look very impressive but is in general more bulky to transport, takes longer to set up, and is less adaptable. T-bars are posing no difficulty to transport/setup, and may be positioned independently to grant more outstanding flexibleness when setting up. Depending on your transport arrangements both types may on occasion be pre-rigged with cables and even lighting effects, saving time and crusade when setting up and packing away, though in the case of trussing this may make it even more bulky and difficult to set up in a tight space.

Lighting Effects

Not only will your lighting rig need to be adaptable sufficient to physically fit into a assortment of venues, it likewise needs to be adaptable in terms of the effects it produces. Including a assortment of effects will mean you have something suitable to all events and types of music, and also helps to keep the show interesting by varying the effects allround the party.

The main types of effect to consider including, in order of importance, are:

Colour wash — PAR cans, LED bars, etc. to throw coloured light over a wide area.

Room-filling effects — twisters, gobo flowers, etc.

Scanners/moving heads — scan beams and patterns around the room / dance floor.

Special effects — lasers, strobes, etc.

A haze or fog/smoke machine helps to spotlight the light show by making the beams visible in mid-air, but beware of using them in venues with fire alarms. The aftermaths of triggering a venue’s fire alarm system could include an evacuated venue, a ruined party, and a visit from the local fire service!

Controlling the Lights

Having a assortment of effects is no use without a way of controlling and switching among them. This may be as simple as a power switch panel (19″ rack-mount versions are available), or for better control use a DMX controller. With a suitable DMX controller and DMX compatible lights, it is possible to control your effects such that they synchronise and supplement each other. Although it is more elaborated and requires more effort and equipment, this is the best way to give rise to a veritably professional looking show.

Use gentle, slow-moving effects for slow music, and more energetic effects for more immediate music. Everything gets boring after a while, so vary the effects all around the event and use particular effects sparingly at suitable moments.

Presentation

The look of your scheme is important. Although most humans won’t know specific makes/models of lighting fixtures, they will detect if your setup is untidy or unprofessional. Try to intent for somewhat consistent looking fixtures. Stick to a colour system if possible — most lighting effects, clamps, and stands are black and silver. Use all black cables and keep them tidy by taping or strapping them to your lighting stands. Try to set up the effects so that they are evenly circulated and symmetrical on your stand(s).

Although they might not be visible for the duration of a performance, the look of any boxes or cases is likewise important. A neat row of professional flight cases gives a far more professional aspect to guests and venue staff than a pile of tatty cardboard boxes.

Cost

There’s a tremendous array of lighting effects available, ranging from very lowpriced to exceedingly expensive. Be realistic when it comes to what you need and what you may afford. Set a budget and undertake to stick to it. Buy the best you may afford within your budget — you’ll regret buying cheap instrumentation if you’re quickly forced to upgrade to something better. However, don’t worry in regards to getting the best of everything — a well designed set up of consistent quality is what’s most important.

Try to set up the effects so that they are evenly passed around and harmonious on your stand(s).

Although they might not be visible for the duration of a performance, the look of any boxes or cases is likewise important. A neat row of professional flight cases gives a far more professional aspect to guests and venue staff than a pile of tatty cardboard boxes.

Cost

There’s a vast array of lighting effects available, ranging from very lowcost to exceedingly expensive. Be realistic when it comes to what you need and what you may afford. Set a budget and undertake to stick to it. Buy the best you may afford within your budget — you’ll regret buying cheap instrumentation if you’re speedily forced to upgrade to something better. However, don’t worry when it comes to getting the best of everything — a well designed set up of consistent quality is what’s most important.

So good and inexpensive were my hot buttons. It’s not for decor, it’s to look for kitty pee on the carpets. One of our cats was ill recently and I wanted to be sure we got everything cleaned up. If you do want it for decorating purposes, it throws quite a light.

The blacklight arrived very well packaged and with no damages. In 5 minutes I had it set up, doused the lights, and looked. This baby uncovers a whole ‘nother world. The cat accidents were readily apparent… as were some other odd spots. I need to go look up what blacklights reveal because some of what I saw wasn’t cat product- for example, there was a fine spread-out glow on the floor under where one of our family members often eats snacks!

But for stalking kitty pee, this was wonderful. I had slips of paper in my hand and laid them across the spots to mark them, then turned the regular lights back on to work on them with paper towels and Woolite carpet spray for pets. Went back and forth this way a few times until everything came up clean. The light’s now in the basement, ready for -heaven forbid- the next time it’s needed.

In the same room I also have a 48″ BL from a local shop, but it buzzes terribly (a screeching 19 kHz tone).

Very compact, and due to recent discoveries about the workmanship of some previously hammered nails, I’ve also discovered that this beast holds up to several drops from about 5 feet*.

Most mobile DJs will need a good deal of form of lighting to illumine the guests and the dance floor. This guide is intended to aid beginner mobile DJs design their primary lighting rig by taking into account numerous of the less evident issues that become evident only after working with a mobile lighting rig for a great deal of time. Tempting as it may be, the best option is not to jump straight in to buying the latest and biggest lighting effects. By taking a step back and planning the overall package, you will be capable to design an impressive, practical setup that serves you well for a assortment of functions and won’t break your back or your bank balance.

There’s no right or defective way, and the relative importance of each of these issues will vary depending on the type of functions at which you perform, your preferences, and even your transport. You might choose to ignore a heap of of them altogether, but it’s indispensable to give them galore thought before you begin assembling your equipment.

Speakers, whether they’re on stands or not (and in most cases they ought to be), may be positioned independently of each other so they don’t need a space of rigidly fixed dimensions. However the lighting rig may often times be the greatest item to be set up and might need a substantial amount of power, and may hence be the most difficult to accommodate in a potpourri of venues.

The layout of your lighting rig needs to take into account respective practical considerations:

Size when packed — will it without apparent effort fit into your vehicle?

Size when set up — will it effortlessly fit into most venues, or be adaptable sufficient that you may quickly modify it if necessary e.g. by using a shorter length of truss or just one T-bar?

Weight — a good deal of lighting fixtures are heavy. Can you carry all of the parts without hurting yourself? Are your lighting stands strong sufficient to support them all safely?

Carrying in/out — how a heap of trips will it take to carry all of your instrumentation into/out of a venue?

Speed to set up — you’ll ofttimes find you don’t have much time to set up, and not anyone wants to wait around for hours while you pack down at the end. How long will it take to assemble/disassemble?

Power — how much power will be required to run all of your lighting combined? Finding more power sockets takes time and power furnishes are occasionally fixed (e.g. in a marquee running from a generator). Modern, LED-based lighting effects use very little power and may be a outstanding support here.

T-bars are having little impact to transport/setup, and may be positioned independently to grant dandier flexibleness when setting up. Depending on your transport arrangements both types may on occasion be pre-rigged with cables and even lighting effects, saving time and effort when setting up and packing away, even though in the case of trussing this may make it even more bulky and difficult to set up in a tight space.

Lighting Effects

Not only will your lighting rig need to be adaptable sufficient to physically fit into a assortment of venues, it also needs to be adaptable in terms of the effects it produces. Including a potpourri of effects will mean you have something suitable to all events and types of music, and likewise helps to keep the show interesting by varying the effects allround the party.

Having a assortment of effects is no use without a way of controlling and switching amidst them. This may be as simple as a power switch panel (19″ rack-mount versions are available), or for better control use a DMX controller. With a suitable DMX controller and DMX compatible lights, it is possible to control your effects such that they synchronise and supplement each other. Although it is more perplexed and requires more crusade and equipment, this is the best way to give rise to a veritably professional looking show.

Use gentle, slow-moving effects for slow music, and more energetic effects for quicker music. Everything gets boring after a while, so vary the effects all around the event and use particular effects sparingly at suitable moments.

Presentation

The look of your scheme is important. Although most humans won’t know specific makes/models of lighting fixtures, they will detect if your set up is untidy or unprofessional. Try to aim for somewhat consistent looking fixtures. Stick to a colour system if possible — most lighting effects, clamps, and stands are black and silver. Use all black cables and keep them tidy by taping or strapping them to your lighting stands. Try to set up the effects so that they are evenly circulated and harmonious on your stand(s).

Although they might not be visible for the duration of a performance, the look of any boxes or cases is also important. A neat row of professional flight cases gives a far more professional aspect to guests and venue staff than a pile of tatty cardboard boxes.

Cost

There’s a tremendous array of lighting effects available, ranging from very lowpriced to exceedingly expensive. Be realistic with regards to what you need and what you may afford. Set a budget and undertake to stick to it. Buy the best you may afford within your budget — you’ll regret buying cheap instrumentation if you’re speedily forced to upgrade to something better. However, don’t worry with regards to getting the best of everything — a well designed setup of consistent quality is what’s most important.

Rosa
I purchase this LED scan system and I am very happy with the light show it has to offer. I am a mobile DJ so I prioritize light weight, compact and affordable. These lights look real good on the mobile DJ booth and dance floor. The only complaint I have is the lack of color gobos and shapes. I would of like to see this have at least 4 more gobos but you get what you pay for. Other than that this light is a really good looking light show for the mobile DJ. If you use them with a DMX controller you can use the white gobo to use as a spot light really good for events were you would like to follow a special guest around the stage or dance floor.

I started DJing before I was 21 and back then we built up these masive lighting and sound systems to play at schools with my freind DJ’s. I had 24 ft of truss at one time loaded with lights spaning across our speaker towers. Today I am just the ocasional DJ performing for mostly freinds and family as My Phillipino wife has a very large family always having some kind of event. With that said most of that big gear is gone now and my current system is very compact as I only DJ ocasionally. All the music is on the laptop as mp3 using PCDJ Red. No more records or CD’s to haul around with some compact Amplified speakers and a powered sub. Why, because most of the events I am hauling my wife and 4 kids with me too so it all has to fit in the SUV with them. When I saw these a said I can abandon my old antiqueted lights as these will do what 10 of them will do without all the heat, pounds and bulbs to replace. It is amazing how far LED Technology has come and if your not sure if an LED lighting system will put out the light intesity as I was you will be very pleasently surprized. These two comscans are now my entire light show as I just mount them to the Speaker stands. Possibly later I will get a small lighting truss but no real need right now for the ocasional gig. I also ordered 2 Ariba cases for them to protect them as these are my new baybies next to my new DN-HC4500 and my kids as I want to make sure they are well protected. I have been messing around with them in the evenings for about a week now and the light show is so cool when you set them to sound mode and have the fog. The RC3 controler is ample but I am considering getting a USB to DMX interface so I can try some free ware I have found to control the lights from my Laptop. It would be cool if I can use my track ball mouse to use them as spot lights and move them around. I’m new to DMX but I’m a high tech guy and understand the concept so it should be a fun project for me to try and figure out. For this price and you are a full time DJ I would not even think twice as you can’t beat the price. Plus Free super saver shipping and no tax. Thanks Amazon! I’m very happy.

Most mobile DJs will need a good deal of form of lighting to illumine the guests and the dance floor. This guide is intended to support beginner mobile DJs design their primary lighting rig by giving careful consideration to galore of the less apparent issues that become apparent only after working with a mobile lighting rig for a good deal of time. Tempting as it may be, the best option is not to jump straight in to buying the latest and greatest lighting effects. By taking a step back and planning the overall package, you will be competent to design an impressive, practical set up that serves you well for a potpourri of functions and won’t break your back or your bank balance.

There’s no right or faulty way, and the relative importance of each of these issues will vary depending on the type of functions at which you perform, your preferences, and even your transport. You might choose to ignore a good deal of of them altogether, but it’s essential to give them a good deal of thought before you start out assembling your equipment.

Speakers, whether they’re on stands or not (and in most cases they ought to be), may be positioned independently of each other so they don’t need a space of rigidly fixed dimensions. However the lighting rig may ofttimes be the greatest item to be set up and might need a significant amount of power, and may accordingly be the most difficult to accommodate in a assortment of venues.

The layout of your lighting rig needs to take into account respective practical considerations:

Size when packed — will it without apparent effort fit into your vehicle?

Size when set up — will it without apparent effort fit into most venues, or be adaptable sufficient that you may quickly modify it if necessary e.g. by using a shorter length of truss or just one T-bar?

Weight — a good deal of lighting fixtures are heavy. Can you carry all of the parts without hurting yourself? Are your lighting stands strong sufficient to aid them all safely?

Carrying in/out — how a great deal of trips will it take to carry all of your instrumentation into/out of a venue?

Speed to set up — you’ll often find you don’t have much time to set up, and not a single soul wants to wait around for hours while you pack down at the end. How long will it take to assemble/disassemble?

Power — how much power will be required to run all of your lighting combined? Finding more power sockets takes time and power furnishes are at times fixed (e.g. in a marquee running from a generator). Modern, LED-based lighting effects use very little power and may be a outstanding aid here.

T-bars are requiring little effort to transport/setup, and may be positioned independently to grant dandier flexibleness when setting up. Depending on your transport arrangements both types may from time to time be pre-rigged with cables and even lighting effects, saving time and effort when setting up and packing away, even though in the case of trussing this may make it even more bulky and difficult to set up in a tight space.

Lighting Effects

Not only will your lighting rig need to be adaptable sufficient to physically fit into a potpourri of venues, it also needs to be adaptable in terms of the effects it produces. Including a potpourri of effects will mean you have something suitable to all events and types of music, and likewise helps to keep the show interesting by varying the effects allround the party.

Having a assortment of effects is no use without a way of controlling and switching amidst them. This may be as simple as a power switch panel (19″ rack-mount versions are available), or for better control use a DMX controller. With a suitable DMX controller and DMX compatible lights, it is possible to control your effects such that they synchronise and supplement each other. Although it is more perplexed and requires more venture and equipment, this is the best way to construct a veritably professional looking show.

Use gentle, slow-moving effects for slow music, and more energetic effects for rapidly and without delay music. Everything gets boring after a while, so vary the effects allround the event and use special effects sparingly at suitable moments.

Presentation

The look of your scheme is important. Although most humans won’t recognise specific makes/models of lighting fixtures, they will observe if your setup is untidy or unprofessional. Try to aim for reasonably consistent looking fixtures. Stick to a colour system if possible — most lighting effects, clamps, and stands are black and silver. Use all black cables and keep them tidy by taping or strapping them to your lighting stands. Try to set up the effects so that they are evenly passed around and harmonious on your stand(s).

Although they might not be visible for the duration of a performance, the look of any boxes or cases is also important. A neat row of professional flight cases gives a far more professional aspect to guests and venue staff than a pile of tatty cardboard boxes.

Cost

There’s a immense array of lighting effects available, ranging from very lowpriced to exceedingly expensive. Be realistic when it comes to what you need and what you may afford. Set a budget and try to stick to it. Buy the best you may afford within your budget — you’ll regret buying cheap instrumentation if you’re speedily forced to upgrade to something better. However, don’t worry with regards to getting the best of everything — a well designed setup of consistent quality is what’s most important.

Speakers, whether they’re on stands or not (and in most cases they ought to be), may be positioned independently of each other so they don’t need a space of rigidly fixed dimensions. However the lighting rig may oftentimes be the biggest item to be set up and might need a significant amount of power, and may hence be the most difficult to accommodate in a potpourri of venues.

The layout of your lighting rig needs to take into account respective practical considerations:

Size when packed — will it effortlessly fit into your vehicle?

Size when set up — will it without apparent effort fit into most venues, or be adaptable sufficient that you may quickly modify it if necessary e.g. by using a shorter length of truss or just one T-bar?

Weight — numerous lighting fixtures are heavy. Can you carry all of the elements without hurting yourself? Are your lighting stands strong sufficient to aid them all safely?

Carrying in/out — how a lot of trips will it take to carry all of your instrumentation into/out of a venue?

Speed to set up — you’ll ofttimes find you don’t have much time to set up, and not anyone wants to wait around for hours while you pack down at the end. How long will it take to assemble/disassemble?

Power — how much power will be required to run all of your lighting combined? Finding more power sockets takes time and power furnishes are most times fixed (e.g. in a marquee running from a generator). Modern, LED-based lighting effects use very little power and may be a great help here.

T-bars are having little impact to transport/setup, and may be positioned independently to grant more outstanding flexibleness when setting up. Depending on your transport arrangements both types may at times be pre-rigged with cables and even lighting effects, saving time and effort when setting up and packing away, even though in the case of trussing this may make it even more bulky and difficult to set up in a tight space.

Lighting Effects

Not only will your lighting rig need to be adaptable sufficient to physically fit into a potpourri of venues, it also needs to be adaptable in terms of the effects it produces.

The aftermaths of triggering a venue’s fire alarm scheme could include an evacuated venue, a ruined party, and a visit from the local fire service!

Controlling the Lights

Having a potpourri of effects is no use without a way of controlling and switching among them. This may be as simple as a power switch panel (19″ rack-mount versions are available), or for better control use a DMX controller. With a suitable DMX controller and DMX compatible lights, it is possible to control your effects such that they synchronise and supplement each other. Although it is more elaborated and requires more crusade and equipment, this is the best way to formulate a veritably professional looking show.

Use gentle, slow-moving effects for slow music, and more energetic effects for quicker music. Everything gets boring after a while, so vary the effects all around the event and use special effects sparingly at suitable moments.

Although they might not be visible for the duration of a performance, the look of any boxes or cases is also important. A neat row of professional flight cases gives a far more professional aspect to guests and venue staff than a pile of tatty cardboard boxes.

Cost

There’s a tremendous array of lighting effects available, ranging from very lowcost to exceedingly expensive. Be realistic regarding what you need and what you may afford. Set a budget and undertake to stick to it. Buy the best you may afford within your budget — you’ll regret buying cheap instrumentation if you’re speedily forced to upgrade to something better. However, don’t worry with regards to getting the best of everything — a well designed set up of consistent quality is what’s most important.

Well it is and it’s not. A color organ, like the one I have now that was $50, will independently turn lights on and off depending on the wave range each channel is assigned to. Not so here. It is basically a single chancel color organ. The beat of the music moves the chase pattern along one step, per beat.

Some of the more complicated chase patterns give the illusion that is actually 4 channel, but if you look at the lights for a few second, you see that it’s just following a pattern, and each beat just moves the pattern along once step. If it had a random pattern at least that would be great, but it doesn’t.

If you use this as part of a larger light system or have a controller to connect to this, well then I think this would be well worth the money, but on its own, not that impressive.

Furthermore, the inner box had clearly been opened AT LEAST three times (layers of cut tape upon cut tape). They clearly “reship” returned merchandise. Well mine is going to have another layer of tape since I’m returning my Christmas present. I’d give this a 3 but the repackaging costs them another point from me, if you don’t care about that, consider my rate a 3.

A Mobile DJ is an entertainer that travels to locatings to provide amusement for a specific event. Where will you see a Mobile DJ? You’ll see a Mobile DJ supplying amusement for Birthday Parties, Sweet 16′s, Bar-Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings, Class Reunions, Graduation Parties, Corporate Parties, etc.

Mobile DJ’s (somewhat of an oxymoron before the turn of the 21st century) weren’t so mobile. You would see 2 big turntables, a huge mixer, huge amplifier, huge speakers, huge heavy crates full of 78′s, lots of wires, and just too much stuff and not effortlessly mobile. Although Big Club DJ’s and a heap of “old school” DJ’s still love spinning on turntables, it’s just not effective for a typical Event DJ. As engineering science gets littler and more efficient, DJ’ing instrumentation is getting much requiring little effort to transport, set-up, and operate.

The DJ’s that use the larger turntable systems look and sound astounding while beat mixing but you won’t see a great deal of of them DJ’ing littler events that may just require a lot of background music. A kid with an iPod, with a good playlist, and speakers may in all probability provide decent songs while a huge turntable mixing system is just overkill. A good mobile DJ with the right instrumentation may be very profitable and successful at these events and may even get started building a reputable DJ business. As the business builds, and gigs get started to accumulate, it’s crucial to have DJ instrumentation that is reliable, easy to set-up, and effective.

When looking for dependable instrumentation as a Mobile DJ, it’s important to look for “name” brands. Even with name brands, a DJ has a choice amid lower quality-lower prices, higher-quality, higher-prices. For MP3 and CD Players, names like Gemini and American Audio are for less “name” brands but they are lower in quality than Denon or Pioneer. Numark, antecedently a mid-level quality company has been reaching new engineering (check out Newmarks, NS7FX) that is beginning to compete with the huge boys.

Here are a heap of of the most general Dual CD/MP3 Players with example-averaged prices being used by DJ’s: Gemini CDMP-6000 ($399.95), Gemini CDX-2400 Rackmount ($170.00), American Audio CK 1000 Table Top Dual ($399.00), American Audio Velocity Professional Dual ($599.00), Numark CD Mix-1 Dual (199.00), Numark CDN22 Rack Mount Dual CD Player (149.00), Denon DN-D6000 Dual CD MP3 Player ($850.00), Pioneer CMX-3000 Dual Rackmount CD Player ($1,000).

You may plainly see a price divergence but you will experience a noticeable divergence in quality amid a cd controller retail for $200 as opposed to the Pioneer CMX for a grand.

Some Mobile DJ’s have even decisive to make their set-up even more mobile by doing away with CD’s and purchasing MP3 Players that have external hard drive or iPod connections. I run all my parties with MP3′s no CD’s. Although I have a Denon 4500 CD player in my system, it is only applied if an individual has cd they want me to play.

Here are a good deal of of the most popular MP3 players with example averaged prices. Numark’s IDJ Mixing Console for iPod ($160.00), Numark’s IDJ2 DJ Console for the IPod and External Hard Drive connections ($399.00), Numark’s D2 Director Mass Storage Player and Manager, Denon DN-HD2500 Hard Disk Media ($599.00), Pioneer MEP-7000 Professional Media Player with CD Decks ($1400)

Some of these units may be used as controllers for general Laptop Mixing Software like Traktor, Virtual DJ, PCDC, and Serato Scratch. There are general controllers like the Vestax VCI-100MV Mixvibes Edition DJ Controller that is specifically designed to control laptop software. Numark’s NS7 DJ ($1300.00) is getting a good deal of huge attention from Serato users.

If DJ’ing on a laptop, consider using that laptop solely for DJ’ing. Other programs or files on the laptop may slow the necessary processing speed.

Once a Mobile DJ has a player, now a good mixer has to be considered. Again, there are good name brands with lower quality-lower prices and good name brands with higher quality-higher prices. Behringer is a authenti brand on the lower end. Consider the Behringer DX626 Pro Mixer ($100.00), Vestax PMC-280 4 Channel DJ Mixer With Digital Effects ($499.00), Denon DN-X1100 4 Channel DJ Mixer ($700.00), or the Pioneer DJM-800 Professional Mixer ($1,700.00). A Mobile DJ can’t go wrong with any of these selections but the pricier mixers do offer more features like effects, more mic inputs, talk over, etc.

Once a Player is selected, and a Mixer is selected, all that’s left are some good powerful speakers. The best type of speakers a mobile DJ may use is Active/Powered Speakers. Passive speakers would require an amplifier or a powered mixer with more weight added to the rig. A DJ may run an XLR cable out of the mixers, plug directly into the powered speakers, plug the speakers in, and voile, sound! ‘

There are a few decent companies that I could suggest. Here are a few products: Behringer Eurolive B208D Active PA ($180.00), American Audio XSP-10A Powered Speaker ($200.00). Here are the companies that I highly recommend: Mackie, JBL, and RCF. Mackie SRM450 v2 Active PA ($500.00), Mackie SRM350 v2 Active, JBL EON515 450 Watt 15″ Powered ($800.00), JBL PRX535 3 Way 15″ ($1000.00), RCF ART312A or RCFART315A Powered Speakers 15″ ($1100.00).

A Mobile DJ will have to have a finelooking simple Set-up. At this point we have discussed a Media Player (CD/MP3 or only MP3), Mixer, and Powered Speakers. This is all the instrumentation that is necessary for Mobile DJ.

A good case with a sturdy rack will have to be considered as well ($200-$400). The Player and Mixer will be screwed down on the top, and in the front of the rack you’ll have the dual cd decks (if a cd player is purchased) and a power strip to plug everything in. Now the rig is; 2 speakers, the case with all the elements all safe and secured, a bag with wires (xlr cables, rca cables, etc.), and speaker poles.

Now all you’ll need is music and set lists. Besides learning how the instrumentation works, this is the most difficult part of DJ’ing. Good set lists and outstanding music is what separates good DJs from bad DJs no matter how pricey or elaborated their instrumentation is. Djs who have been agreeably diverting for a long time have learned from experience what songs work for specific sets.

Where do new DJs or Intermediate DJs go to learn set-mixes that work? A website has been developed for Event/Mobile DJs to give DJs prompt access to Set lists for all types of parties; Weddings, Birthdays, Kids, Sweet 16′s, Graduations, and great mixes for usual dance music, modified monthly. It may likewise be a resource internetlocation for DJ’s to go and get all types of helpful tips, how-to’s, and information, song programming techniques, and event forms.

Being a mobile DJ is fun, exciting, and very profitable! As engineering gets littler and having little impact to use, more and more humans will be attempting to master DJ’ing. Technology is only half of the skill. The other half of being a outstanding Mobile DJ is knowing your music and being convinced in your set lists. Having Good Equipment and Great Mixes is all a DJ needs to be outstanding in the 21st century.

Good battery life. Very light and thin. Has a nice little screen, and rubber backing. Loads of features for [...] bucks (normally retails for [...] – rightly so), and nice 4 gigs of capacity! Obviously it’s not an ipod touch, but I’d take this over a classic ipod or ipod shuffle/nano ANY DAY.. I also like that I don’t have to feel like I’m handling glass when I use it. I owned an ipod touch, and I was almost afraid to handle it because it felt so delicate. This product actually feels light and durable. Also, it makes for a great flash drive, as well as having excellent reception in the FM tuner.. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants a good mp3 player at a great price.

I like it. Very light wich surprised me and good picture and i just dropped it and it still works which is a plus.

Pros
-easy to read
-easy music transfer
-portable
-sounds awsome especially with skull candies
- puts your music in order and even has album/artist order as well

Cons (nothing big)
- hard to find music when you have alot since you only have a push button but just hold it and it goes by kinda fast
- when you want to search for a new song you have to start from the beginning everytime which sucks but o well
- takes a few seconds to turn on and shut off but aging no biggie

Over all, good player and is well recomended

As a DJ, one of the basic fundamental principle of performing is knowing how to mix music. Keeping

that smooth flow, rhythm and energy on the dance floor is necessary to a Dj and their

performance in front of their crowd! In this article we will mention 5 mysteries of Dj mixing

tips that any beginner needs to recognise in order to become successful.

Beat mixing has become more comfortable than it applied to be because most of todays dance music tracks

have lengthy introductions to a song and also long outro ductions to a song. With this in

mind, it has likewise become posing no difficulty for for newcomers to come into the scene and get involved

because Dj instrumentation is as pricey as it applied to be!

Here are galore of the Dj mixing tips you need to recognise -

1. Almost all dance tracks have an intro where you may mix in the music and a break or outro

where you may mix out of a track. Commonly, the outro area on a dance track is ofttimes the

final prospect to mix out of the song. You may likewise mix out of a dance track where there

is a breakdown in the record!

2. When listening to dance music and it is structure, make sure that you listen to the drum

beat of the song. This is normally a 4/4 structure. Eg. 1,2,3,4 – 2,2,3,4 – 3,2,3,4 – 4,2,3,4

Counting the beats will help you perceive where you need to place your mix with the other

record you wish to mix into.

3. So now, as you listen to the tune that is being played (song one) on the output (dance

floor) you need to cue the song that you want to beat match through your headphones on the

other turntable or cd. When tune 1 comes towards it is outro section, you then need to commence

the second tune on it is firstborn beat in which case this is the intro of the second tune. This is

where you begin to beat match the to songs. As you match the drum beats of the two songs keep

your hand on the pitch of the tune that you are attempting to introduce. Adjusting the pitch will

help you speed up or slow down the tune you are attempting to introduce!

4. As one hand adjusts the speed of the incoming song, the other hand needs to be to be

adjusting the volume of the mixer and gradually sliding the cross fader from tune one to the

other. What happens when you do this is that song one decreases in volume and song two

increases in volume Thus completing the alter over from one track to the other.

5. One of the most indispensable things for a DJ to understand when in the mix, is to make sure

that he/she always keeps their hand on the pitch when adjusting a mix. Some Dj’s don’t realize

this, but touching the vinyl may fabricate a swoosh sound that may trouble the mix and make it

sound like it is not running smooth! So keep out of the way of touching the vinyl or platter when you are

adjusting the speed on a live mix!

These are the DJ mixing tips exposed. I hope they are some sort of use to you! Learn and

understand them as best you may and they will support you become better at mixing your music!
